Hello All,
Well I have successfully made it to Ireland. It was a bit of trouble trying to get all the dots to connect to get here but it finally worked out. I left St. Andrews on bus this morning, then took a train, then a ferry, then by taxi. I've met up with the Keightley family and they are wonderful and I am very thankful they are letting me stay with them. I think that Catherine and I will be travelling down to Dublin tomorrow for the day since she is off. That's about all I know thus far. I will keep updates coming as I can.
Miss you all

My heart leaps with joy for/with you!!
ReplyDeleteSay hello to Yvonne Headden for us. She is just a kid like me and a joy. She moved out of her three bedroom apartment to make room for us for the week that we were in Belfast. She would quietly come back every morning and awaken us with the smell of hot coffee and breakfast cooking. She packed lunches for us on our day's venture and greeted us with supper ready when we returned. She also provided us with clean laundry and bedtime stories.
Tell her we are all fine and think often of her and her hospitality. She lives walking distance from the Keightley's, 8 Belvoir Close, in route to the River Lagan and Shaw's Bridge where Craig and I so enjoyed running along the river and viewing palatial estates on the hills with muscled horses playing in the fields while swans plied the waters of the River Lagan. It is no wonder to me why so many poets write of and come from Ireland. I think kissing the Blarney Stone only gives you permission to let it all out.
Ask about Father Tony of Seattle. He may still be visiting his mother annually at Kilmore Quay, however, she would be well over 100 years old if that is so.
You might ask also to meet Glen and Damian the boys that we hosted during the Children's Committee 10 days.
You will love Dublin too! We stayed in a Hostel there that was converted from a Cathedral, interesting! You must get your picture taken by the statue of Sweet Molly Malone, the fish monger. There is so much rich history all around you. Be a sponge and soak up as much as you possibly can. Ask a million questions to get people to talk, because it is every day stuff to them.
Love to all,
Grandpa
Hi Grandpa,
ReplyDeleteI'm having a lovely time in Ireland thus far. I will have to check to see how to get to see Yvonne if the time allows. I'm only here until Saturday morning. Yesterday I went around Belfast and to Downpatrick with Catherine, today I went to Dublin, and tomorrow I'm thinking of going to the Giant's Causeway and the North Coast. Defanitely not enough time here. Just means I'll have to come back. Maybe a family trip in the future? :) Love you and can't wait to share all my pictures with you.
